The Big Tree

Someone in the office told me about a mythical "big tree".

So I went in search

Must be around here somewhere.......

This is a really big tree. I could not get my arms around the leaning aspen on the right!	The dog is Simon, a 96lb Rottweiller mix, dwarfed by the tree.

This lovely wildflower is called Monkshood, just one of many that can be seen on the beautiful Lady Slipper Trail

From Monte Verde Lake the round trip is about 3 1/2 miles.

Well worth it next time you are up here.

(This year - 2007, the walk up to the big tree is even more beautiful than ever. With all the snow we had last winter and the rain weve had this summer the wildflowers are more spectacular than they have been in many years.)
